Episode 31 of The Story of rock and Roll was recorded in the Mix 93.8 FM studios in Midrand at midnight on 9 August 2019. It was a joyous celebration of Women’s Day and the fact that it’s a long weekend. It was also the first episode recorded in the revamped Studio A with a brand new desk. What a pleasure. It also marked a change in the recording process for the podcast. My Apple Mac Book Pro died and has been replaced with a Dell / Microsoft system. Again, what a pleasure.
The highlight of the show, certainly according to the Whatsapp line was Richard Prior’s Brand New Day, an instrumental blues monsterpiece. I was also kaked out for mispronouncing Patlansky, thanks Paul, noted 🙂 It’s good to have people who care enough to point these things out. The weirdest / odd man out track was without a doubt Robert Palmers Clues which was a real jolt of nostalgia. Machine Head were sent in to restore normality. All in all it was an eclectic mix of Rock, Metal, Ballads and Blues, a two hour education in high voltage rock and roll, and as mentioned, it was also Women’s Day and the release day for the brand Slipknot album.
