Blues guitarist and front man Oli Brown formed RavenEye in 2014. Oli is one of those guys who is very, very critically acclaimed. In the Brit Blues awards he won plenty of awards, best young artist, best vocalist best, best, best everything. But that was in 2010 / 2011 and now its 2017 so the problem is that he has a mountain to climb to match the acclaim he has received. I think he’ll do it.

Oli decided to move out of the blues a bit and take a rock direction, the debut EP Breakin’ Out was exceptional, full of that overdriven crunching guitar that is typical of bands like Left Lane Cruiser. There is a little bit of everything in here, ZZ Top, Black Stone Cherry and the Black Keys. The new album Nova is a lot more polished and hopefully it sells.

RavenEye have the same vibe that Wolfmother had when I first heard them, they stand out, certainly not run of the mill. It sounds fresh and there is a lot of guitar, but this is not an album review I just dig the band, check it out and see what you think. There are two video’s here, the new one from the full length album Nova is linked to the picture.
